THE VINEYARD
The Chateau Moyau has its seeds in the Middle Ages.
This is documented by old maps, on which the village of Moyau is drawn in. The legend tells that Moyau’s original settlers have been settled down pirates whose leader answered to the name of Moyau.
Other narratives deduce the origin of the name Moyau from the french word ‘marais’, standing for fruitful land.
Like a typical farm of this region, Château Moyau has been extended and changed for many centuries. But the previous owner’s passion to renovate has diminished in the last few years before 2004 and therefore the château dilapidated more and more. After the acquisition of the Chateau we decided to stop this dilapidation and to renovate the buildings and the cave by maintaining their typical character.
Several residential buildings, two large wine cellars, one of the region’s most beautiful pigeon tower und numerous outbuildings and stables offer enough room for our strategy to rebuild, reorganize and renovate the buildings, so that Moyau becomes a new glossy charisma.
