SITEST AND VINES
Chateau Moyau covers an area of 52 ha altogether.
Thereof approximately one half is planted with vines. The residential buildings and the outbuildings of Chateau Moyau are in the heart of our vineyards. Thus, the vines can be optimal tended and be kept under surveillance continuously. 60 per cent of our vines lie in a privileged location with sea view. The remaining 40 per cent are to the north of the farm buildings being protected by the moorland (Garrigues) with all its fragrances.
At Moyau high-quality grape varieties like Mourvedre, Syrah, Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc aus well as Carginan, Cinsault and Bourboulenc are planted. The average age of our vines comes to far in excess of 20 years. Approximately 72 per cent of our vines are even older than 30 years and approximately 35 per cent are older than 50 years offering excellent conditions for the viniculture.
At Moyau all ‘colours’ are produced. With a share of more than 90 per cent red and rosé wines dominate. The overall concept for Moyau provides for a continuous quality improvement of the excisting vine areas and a gradual extension of the vineyard. Thereby particularly the share of white grape varieties should be increased and the overall viticultural areas should be expanded to approximately 40 ha.
